Topstep Futures Trailing Drawdown Calculator
Model intraday trailing maximum loss limits ($2,000 on 50k), lock-in floors, and contract sizing.
Topstep futures challenges feature an intraday trailing drawdown that follows your peak unrealized equity until it locks in at your starting balance. Plan contract sizing and avoid accidental threshold breaches.
Challenge Parameters
The trailing floor follows this peak and stays put when equity falls. It does not rise above the account size.

The Mechanics of Topstep's Intraday Trailing Max Loss Limit
Topstep's maximum loss limit is not fixed below your starting balance. It tracks your peak intraday unrealized equity in real time. On a $50,000 account with a $2,000 trailing limit, the starting floor is $48,000. If an intraday trade rallies to $51,500, your loss floor instantly ratchets up to $49,500. Once your account reaches $52,000, the trailing floor permanently locks at $50,000 and never rises higher.
