Funding worksheet

Binance funding-rate worksheet

Type one 8-hour rate. This page keeps it constant and multiplies by three settlements a day. Some contracts settle every 4 hours or every 1 hour. This page does not look that up.

If every 8-hour print is +0.01%, simple annualization is 10.95%. That is arithmetic, not Binance's current rate.

Optional. Subtracts the constant-rate funding figure from the gross PnL you type. Not a live net result.

This page holds the rate constant and assumes three settlements a day. Desktop replay does not deduct funding on the chart and does not simulate slippage.

Frequently Asked Questions About Perpetual Funding Rates

What the constant 8-hour assumption does and does not cover.

What is the funding rate in Binance perpetual contracts?▾
The funding rate is a periodic payment exchanged directly between long and short traders (Binance charges no commission on this transfer). It anchors the perpetual contract price to the underlying spot index price. When perpetuals trade at a premium, longs pay shorts; at a discount, shorts pay longs.
When does Binance settle funding fees?▾
BTC and ETH perpetuals often settle at 00:00, 08:00, and 16:00 UTC. Some contracts settle every 4 hours or every 1 hour. This page multiplies the 8-hour rate you type by three settlements a day. It does not look up the contract's current interval.
How do you convert an 8-hour funding rate into Annualized Percentage Rate (APR)?▾
Simple annualization = the 8-hour rate × 3 × 365 × 100. 0.01% is 10.95%. 0.05% is 54.75%. This is not compound APY and not a Binance borrowing rate. If the rate changes during the hold, the figure no longer applies.
Why do swing traders often fail despite profitable chart patterns?▾
If the rate stayed at the number you typed for the whole hold, the summed fee would take a slice of paper profit. The live rate changes every interval. This page does not model that.
Can funding fees trigger premature liquidation?▾
Funding is taken from margin and can move a liquidation price toward the market. This page calculates the fee only. It does not recompute liquidation.
How do funding rates behave during extreme market conditions?▾
A rate can flip sign. Type a higher or negative number to see the constant-rate fee. This is not a forecast of the next print.
How does BarionQuant Desktop help model funding costs?▾
The desktop replays bars. Funding arithmetic stays on this page. Replay does not deduct funding on the chart and does not simulate slippage.
