Pay for deep history, or pay for a practice seat
A forex tester alternative is a bad purchase if the thing you wanted was their history. Forex Tester Desktop is a standalone backtester. Its public order page splits the bill in two: a one-time license, then data. Basic data is listed as included. The long tick archive is Super Data, and that line is extra.
We do not sell that archive. If 25 years and hundreds of symbols are the reason you are here, stay with them.
What you are comparing
Three different bills get mashed together in reviews. Keep them apart.
The desktop license is one payment for the program. On 2026-09-23 the USD order page listed that license at $149, with $230 struck through. The same page's euro capture, filed with this note, shows €149 struck from €230 on the Basic Data column. Both are promotional. Both say tax is extra. Do not treat $149 as a permanent price.
Super Data is the tick product: they describe 25 years, on the order of 860 symbols, updated often. The filed euro page shows €29.99 per month (struck from a higher monthly). The USD check the same day showed about $30 per month on promotion, with a yearly and a lifetime option beside it. Basic Data subscription is marked free on that page. Forex Tester Online is a different product with its own plans. This note does not use those prices.
BarionQuant is a third bill: Free $0 for EURUSD, Standard $15/mo or $150/yr, Pro $29/mo or $290/yr, handbook included, Windows only. No 20-year official tick pack.
Where they are stronger
They are stronger when the job is deep history inside a dedicated tester: many symbols, a data plan you can point at, a program that is not a MetaTrader plugin. That is a real product. A practice seat does not replace it.
We are the other job. A Windows window for rehearsing a session, plus the written method that comes with the seat. Not a broker. Not their data warehouse.
Who should skip us
Skip us if you need their Super Data depth, a native Mac app, or replay in the browser. Stay with Forex Tester if the data subscription is the product you actually want.
