The first London hour is the stop

The rule was written before Play. The next hour ended the sitting.

Direct answer

This is one finished Training sitting on BarionQuant Desktop. XAUUSD, H1. File clock GMT. Predetermined week 2016-10-24 → 2016-10-28.

Before any Step I wrote the first London hour’s high and low: 1266.3 and 1265.0. That hour is 2016-10-24 07:00 GMT. The week is still UK summer time, so London 08:00 local is file 07:00, not 08:00. The next hour, 2016-10-24 08:00 GMT, printed a low of 1264.6. That bar is the stop. File → End Training. No ticket. Size stayed 0.1.

The lesson this sitting follows is already public: Size and stop are one decision. This page is the gold record, not a second copy of that lesson, and not the EURUSD first-hour sitting with a new ticker.

Symbol, period, dates

  • Symbol. XAUUSD
  • Chart. H1
  • Predetermined week. 2016-10-24 → 2016-10-28 GMT (last complete Monday–Friday in the file that still has 08:00 prints)
  • First London hour. 2016-10-24 07:00 GMT · O 1265.9 · H 1266.3 · L 1265.0 · C 1265.0
  • Stop bar. 2016-10-24 08:00 GMT · O 1264.9 · H 1265.7 · L 1264.6 · C 1265.7

The sitting ended on that second bar. The desk picture below walked a few more hours after 08:00 so the empty-wall chart could be read. The sitting did not walk the rest of the week. Later London days in that week also punched their own first hour. They are not a second sitting.

Where the data came from

Dukascopy-style ticks in XAUUSD.txt (DTYYYYMMDD + TIME, no zone column), 2001-01-02 through 2016-10-31. Desktop treats that TIME as UTC. Dukascopy support, 22 May 2012: “Time is always GMT.” UK DST in 2016 ended Sunday 30 October, so this week is BST.

The ticks were aggregated to H1 ISO CSV and opened with File import. This is not Get market data Free gold sample, and it is not the stopped SMC piece at /learn/replays/xauusd-fakeout-breakdown.

Windows. Not Mac. Not a browser replay.

The rule, copied before Play

I wrote these three sentences before the first Step.

1. One size for every training ticket in the sitting. If you change size, the sitting is over. 2. Invalidation: the high and the low of the first London hour this week. File clock is GMT. This week is BST, so that hour is 07:00 GMT. If a later bar trades beyond either price, the experiment is over. 3. Those two prices are on this chart. This page does not add a pip distance or a percent of an account.

Size for this sitting: 0.1, the account default. I did not change it. I did not open Indicators. I did not open Trade → New Order.

What happened

One Step.

The next H1 bar traded through 1265.0. Low 1264.6. That is the stop-out the rule named. I left the two prices where they were written. I ended Training.

Session complete: Trades 0, result +0.00. There was no ticket to close. The stop is the bar, not a broker stop on an order.

The workspace already showed MACD(12, 26, 9). I did not open the Indicators menu to put it there, and I did not read it as a signal for this sitting. The bid and ask on the quote strip are the spread. They are not a filled order.

Went well: wrote 1266.3 and 1265.0 before any Step. Size stayed 0.1. Indicators and New Order stayed closed. The week was picked before looking at whether Monday punched.

Mistakes: the next bar already traded through 1265.0. Moving the low after that print would have been the mistake. The two prices stayed.

Next plan: keep this London first-hour rule on the next XAUUSD H1 week in the file. Do not add a live ticket. End Training on the first later bar that trades the range.

When this sitting does not count

It does not count if later bars stay inside that first London range for the whole predetermined week — that would be written as “no punch,” not as a hunt for another week. It does not count if size changes mid-sitting. It does not count if the high or the low is moved after a later bar has already traded through it. It does not count if the right side of the tape was visible before the first Step. It does not count if Trade → New Order was opened. It does not count if file 08:00 is called London while BST is on.

None of those happened here. A stop on the first later bar is still a sitting. It is a short one.

This page does not tell you to walk the file yourself. There is no attached .bqproj.

BarionQuant Desktop 0.1.4. XAUUSD H1 File import. Session 2016-10-24 → 2016-10-24. Status names the stop bar: 2016.10.24 08:00 O 1,264.90 H 1,265.70 L 1,264.60. 6 bars on the left empty-wall; last print 1271.15 is later than the stop. Open Orders (0). No open positions. MACD(12,26,9) was already on the workspace; it is not a signal for this sitting. Bid/ask 1270.85 / 1271.15 is the spread, not a ticket.

Red line on the dialog: this session ended before video export existed; this sitting does not publish a clip. Different file and pixels from the stop-bar cover.

Who should skip

Skip this page if you wanted a live gold buy zone, or a stop distance in pips.

Skip it if you wanted a winning sitting, or a file you can double-click.

Skip it if you wanted the EURUSD first-hour sitting copied onto gold. That record stays on EURUSD.

Skip it if you have not read the size lesson. The three sentences live there.

The author’s longer note on writing the invalidation before size is Write where you are wrong first. The system cut of this sitting is A gold trading system: the first London hour is the stop. Pip size is still three names on the XAUUSD pip calculator.
