A level needs a closed swing

Yahoo EURUSD=X H1, closed lows 13 and 15 May 2026

The low of a bar that is still moving is not a level. Wait until it has closed, then wait until later bars leave it alone.

Direct answer

I mark support from a swing low that has already closed, with five closed hours to its right that do not make a lower low. Until those five hours close, I do not treat that print as a level.

A wick through the line is not a break. A close under it is a different question. This page is only the first gate: the swing has to exist as a closed fact.

How to judge

Has the candidate bar closed?

The forming hour is still moving. Its low can print lower before the close. I do not draw a horizontal on an open bar.

Have five closed hours to the right stayed above that low?

A single closed low is a print, not a swing I will reuse. I wait for five completed hours that do not undercut it. If one of them does, that candidate is gone.

Am I treating the line as a bounce that is owed to me?

No. A closed swing is a place I can name. It is not a promise that price returns.

The pair on this page

The figure is Yahoo Finance EURUSD=X, one-hour bars, times in UTC. The download used for the scan runs from 2025-10-27 10:00 through 2026-10-27 10:00 and holds 6,080 hour bars on the hour. A later bar that was not on the hour was dropped. Pivots need five bars on the left and five on the right.

On that scan, one confirmed pair of lows is 2026-05-13 09:00 at 1.17000, then 2026-05-15 09:00 at 1.16212.

EURUSD H1 closed swing lows, 13–15 May 2026 UTC
EURUSD H1, Yahoo Finance EURUSD=X, UTC. Closed lows: 2026-05-13 09:00 at 1.17000, and 2026-05-15 09:00 at 1.16212. The dashed line is the later low. Not an order.

The later low is not a level at 09:00. The five hours that confirm it:

Hour (UTC)LowHigh
2026-05-15 10:001.163061.16577
2026-05-15 11:001.163331.16523
2026-05-15 12:001.162251.16347
2026-05-15 13:001.162251.16333
2026-05-15 14:001.162521.16401

Each of those lows is above 1.16212. The swing is known when 14:00 closes. A chart with a longer history or a different seed of averages is a different tape. This page does not use a moving average. It uses highs and lows of closed hours.

A broker feed will not match these five-decimal prints. Use the three checks on your own chart. Do not paste 1.16212 onto another tape.

When the mark does not count

It is off on an unclosed bar. It is off if I name it before the five confirming hours have closed. It is off if I treat a wick under 1.16212 as a break while the hour is still open. It is off if I draw the line first and then hunt for a swing that fits it.

The earlier low at 1.17000 is another closed swing on the same window. I am not stacking them into a channel, and I am not calling a bounce.

What we do

The Windows desk on Download is where you pause on a closed bar and write the price. Free has H1. That is enough for this mark. You do not need Standard. You do not need an indicator that paints the line for you.

The invalidation essay uses a closed swing as the price that proves the idea wrong. This page only asks whether the swing exists yet. Size comes after that, on Write where you are wrong first, then talk about size.

We ship Windows. No Mac. No browser replay. We are not a broker.

For study and simulated practice only. This is not investment advice.

Who should skip

Skip this page if you want a zone that price must bounce from, a buy at 1.16212, or a line drawn on a bar that is still forming.

Keep it if you already draw levels and you want the close-and-confirm gate written down.
